We accept different grants/funding provided by the state of Michigan. 

*Students must contact the funding organization to see if they qualify. 1st Step Healthcare Training does not determine eligibility.*

Detroit at Work

Funding available to Detroit resident.

  • Available for residents over the age of 18. If younger than 18 contact Detroit at work and inquire about the WIOA program.

Michigan Works

Funding available for Metro Detroit residents.

  • Available for residents over the age of 18 that live outside the city of Detroit. If younger than the age of 18 contact Michigan Works to inquire about the WIOA program.

Michigan Rehabilitation Services

Funding for students with documented disabilities (mental, intellectual and physical)

  • To become eligible for services from MRS, you must have a physical or mental disability that makes it difficult for you to find and keep a job. If you qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) based on your disability, you probably qualify for MRS.

Michigan Achievement Scholarship

Funding for students that graduated from high school in 2023 or later.

  • Eligibility To qualify for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship, you must:
  • 1. Be a Michigan resident for at least the immediately preceding year
  • 2. Have graduated from high school in Michigan with a diploma or a certificate of completion or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after.
  • 3. Have not yet earned an associate or bachelor’s degree. Have not yet earned a degree, certificate, or other credential with this scholarship.
  • If you answer yes to these questions the follow the steps below.
  • 1. Choose 1st Step Healthcare Training as your training provider.
  • 2. Complete the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship application in the MiSSG Student Portal.
  • Contact the school once registered 313-385-3307.
